A survey by shopping advice website MyVoucherCodes.co.uk showed that rather than going without cosmetic surgery during the credit crunch, people are borrowing money to have treatments.

The cosmetic surgery poll looked at 1,388 people who had either has surgery or were considering it. It showed that more than 60 percent of post-op patients had paid for their procedures through a loan or with a credit card.

The top three procedures paid for by borrowing were:

• Breast enlargement
• Cosmetic dental work
• Liposuction.

Nose jobs, tummy tucks and gastric bands were all also on the list.

Furthermore, the study revealed that more than half of those currently considering plastic surgery said they’d borrow to fund the procedure.
