It didn’t take long to realise that the much-hyped iphone hair restoration app wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
In truth, the warning that the app could cause headaches if placed near your ears was enough to put most people off, although the good news was that it raised the profile of the whole issue of hair loss treatments.
Male hair loss in particular has suffered from a PR problem in the past, with many people embarrassed to discuss their receding hairline or male pattern baldness.
That’s why the iphone app seemed so attractive. It was pitched as both a cheap and private solution to a sensitive problem…but has since been derided by the medical community.
What hair restoration options are recommended?
Hair transplants are available for men and women and hair loss surgery experts Why Go Abroad explained the reason for their popularity.
A spokesman said: “Hair transplants use your own donor hair – from other parts of your head – to cover bald patches or replace a receding hairline, which gives a very natural look.
“Most other hair loss solutions are neither as permanent nor natural looking so hair transplants are hugely popular. Indeed, while the treatment is mostly associated with male pattern baldness, we also offer female transplants and we are seeing increasing numbers of women enquiring about it.”
Female hair loss tends to result in general thinning, rather than actual baldness, as with men.
