Does the extent of hair loss matter before a hair transplant?

Hair transplants, along with many other areas of male cosmetic surgery, are one of the growth areas of the industry.

Hair restoration enquiries and procedures are both up and hair transplant specialists Why Go Abroad have put together the following advice for anyone considering the treatment:

  • Yes, you can have a hair transplant – they’re available to men and women, over the age of 18, who suffer from balding or thinning hair
  • Yes, it’s a straightforward procedure – a hair transplant only requires a local anaesthetic and there’s no need for an overnight hospital stay
  • Yes, it is affordable – depending on the extent of your hair loss and the number of grafts you need, the hair transplant cost may differ
  • Yes, it will look totally natural – Why Go Abroad only uses your own hair from a ‘donor area’ of your head to ensure the results are natural.

How does a hair transplant work?

With prices from just £3,000, hair-loss surgery is increasingly popular but many people are still unsure about the actual process.

First of all the ‘donor hairs’ are taken from the back or side of the head, then separated into individual follicles and transplanted into the bald patch.

Initially, some bleeding is perfectly normal and the hair may not grow in its new position for some weeks but, eventually, normal hair growth resumes and it will require grooming and cutting as usual.
