Male pattern baldness is one of men’s biggest fears

It is a stark reality that most men suffer from male pattern baldness at some stage.

Traditionally, there was very little men could do about it, as neither unconvincing hair plugs nor comical wigs, were enticing options. However, all that has changed today as modern hair transplants offer a totally natural look.

And this transformation in hair restoration surgery is especially exciting for people who have a history of male pattern baldness in their family.

Male pattern baldness explained

The condition affects everyone in a slightly different way but, usually, it starts with the hairline receding at the front. This is followed by the hair thinning on top, leading to a bald patch in the middle of the scalp.

The receding hairline and the bald patch eventually meet, leaving a ‘horseshoe’ of hair around the back and sides.

Facts and figures

Nearly all men have some form of baldness by the time they are in their 60s, however, around three in ten 30 year olds also suffer male pattern baldness. For some people, it can even start in their late teens.

It usually takes between 15 and 25 years to go bald but, again, in some cases it can take less than five years.

A spokesman for hair restoration surgery experts Why Go Abroad said: “While older men have always been interested in hair transplants, they are now becoming especially popular among younger men, who can see that they don’t need to go bald in their 20s.

“Although we don’t offer the treatment to anyone younger than 18 years old, we are seeing increasing numbers of enquiries from younger men and, as the hair transplant techniques improve, we expect this rise to continue.”

Hair transplant prices are affordable in the UK and start at £3,000 and for more information visit Why Go Abroad.
