Men more open to cosmetic surgery than ever before

A recent survey found that four in five men would consider cosmetic surgery and think celebrities, like Gordon Ramsay and Simon Cowell, look better for their treatment.

As well as the 83% of men who said they would consider having plastic surgery in the future, this year has seen a surge in men taking the plunge, with an 82% increase in male cosmetic surgery procedures in 2009.

The inevitable conclusion is a major culture change and Why Go Abroad has seen a number of treatments become especially popular in recent years.

Most popular cosmetic surgery for men

While Gordon Ramsay famously chose BOTOX™ as his treatment of choice, your everyday 21st Century chap seems to be more preoccupied with his ‘moobs’ or man-boobs, if the rise in male breast reductions is anything to go by.

Industry body British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (or BAAPS) has recorded an incredible 1000% increase in these procedures in the past five years.

The results can be dramatic and male breast reduction can be done in two ways:

  • A small incision in the ‘moob’ area and then surgically removing the unwanted tissue
  • A newer process, similar to liposuction, where a cannula is inserted to the area and used to drain off the excess fat.

A male cosmetic surgery expert from Why Go Abroad said: “Celebrity endorsements and comments have made men more willing to consider procedures.

“Men are definitely taking more pride in their appearance and this is conveyed through the increase in demand for male cosmetic surgery procedures.”

Male breast reduction prices start at just £3,695 and are available both in the UK and abroad.
