Nose Reshaping - Why Go Abroad?
A popular cosmetic surgery procedure for both men and women is Rhinoplsty (nose
reshaping). With Rhinoplasty the nose can be reshaped, humps on the nose can be
removed, and the nose can be made narrower and straighter.
The procedure involves incisions made on the inside of the nose and are therefore not visible. Cartilage
and bone can be removed and adjusted to modify the framework of the nose thereby
changing the appearance of the nose.
Why have a Rhinoplasty?
Significant enhancements to the nose can be made with Rhinoplasty and the procedure
may also help to relieve some breathing problems in patients.
Your consultation
During your medical consultation, your Surgeon will evaluate your health and expectations.
Be
sure to discuss your expectations frankly with your Surgeon and be sure to say if
you smoke or if you are taking any vitamins, or medication.
Your Surgeon will assess your medical and family history and request any pre-operative
tests which may be necessary and discuss your expectations and explain what can
realistically be achieved. Your Surgeon will explain the risks and benefits of this
procedure and
perform an examination.
The Surgeon may decide it is not in your best medical interest to proceed with surgery.
If you are not satisfied with your medical consultation, a second consultation with
another Surgeon can be arranged for a further opinion.
Surgeons and Anaesthetists
All of the Anaesthetists and Plastic Surgeons that would carry out your procedure
are fully qualified independent professionals who have successfully completed years
of training. The Surgeon undertaking the consultation will be scheduled to operate.
However in unforeseen circumstances it may be necessary to change Surgeons. In this
instance the replacement Surgeon would be of an equal standing. All the Surgeons
are registered with the GMC. You may wish to confirm this by telephoning 0845 357
3456 or writing to them at: General Medical Council, 178 Great Portland Street,
London, WC1N 6JE.
Post-op appointments
Post-operative follow-up is of paramount importance. Each patient undergoing surgery will be given post operative appointments for wound management
and suture removal. Post-operative instructions are vital and we consider it very
important that you adhere to them. Failing to follow these guidelines and attend
your appointments can adversely affect the outcome of surgery and put patient safety
at risk.
